These images are a collection of my attempts to master drawing with pastels. I inherited a box from my mother and learned to like the spontaneous energy a few strokes of color can impart in a piece of art. I had the good fortune of working with excellent models who were remarkable in holding their poses. Sometimes the personality of the model added to the mood or texture. The backgrounds I have experimented with include textured paper, toned paper, vellum and some of my own paper I mixed with paint and fine ground quartz material.
Sizes for above pastel images range from 19" x 28" to 9" x 12".
These are a few of the characters from a novel I have written and am currently editing. They are framed acrylic on masonite 24" x 17". From top left to bottom: Quaff and Quiver, Snoreflub and Time Flies are the names of the characters. The abstract painting, Saint Louis is 12" x 19".
