Art at the Arnold

Since 1989, Columbus, Ohio has hosted the Arnold Sports Festival and Expo, the world’s largest multi-sports competition. In early March of 2020, this annual  four-day health and fitness celebration attracted nearly 22,000 athletes representing eighty countries who participated in over 80 sports and events, including a rather unique competition, Art at The Arnold.

Each year fifty artists from throughout the USA gathered to wield their brushes, pens, pastels, oils, water-colors in an effort to champion all other competitors. A time limit is set each day to complete a piece of art and the judging was completed on the third day. As a bonus Each year Arnold Schwarzenegger visited us while we worked to converse and see our progress.

I competed for seven years and was awarded Third Place for my work on the Painted Man in 2018. In 2020 I was awarded First Place at Art at the Arnold for my pastel of Hafthor Bjornsson of Iceland who won the Strongman Competition, and is better known to the wider-world as the actor who played the character of Gregor Clegane (aka The Mountain) on the HBO series Game of Thrones.
